BVC stands for Be Very Careful and is a safety marking placed on trail to warn hashers of an upcoming hazard. When you see this mark, pay extra attention to your surroundings.

  • Steep drop-offs or unstable terrain
  • Railroad crossings
  • Construction zones or other obstacles

Important

Unlike most hash marks which add fun and challenge to trail, BVC is a genuine safety warning. Hashers should always take these marks seriously regardless of how competitive or distracted they may be.
