Culture & TraditionsThe circle is the post-trail gathering where the hash conducts its business, ceremonies, and socializing. It is the heart of the hash experience.
Circle Structure
- Forming the circle: Hashers gather in a circle, drinks in hand
- Religious Advisor (RA) or Grand Master leads: Directs the proceedings
- Down-downs: Punishments, celebrations, and recognition
- Songs: Led by the Song Master
- Announcements: Upcoming events, visitors, business
Circle Positions

| Beer cooler location | Strategically placed for easy access |
Duration
Circles can last anywhere from 15 minutes to over an hour depending on:
- Number of virgins and visitors
- How many people need punishing
- How much beer remains
- The RA’s enthusiasm
