Kennel

Culture & Traditions

A kennel is a local Hash House Harrier chapter. Each kennel operates independently with its own traditions, schedule, and mismanagement.

Naming Convention

Kennel names typically follow the pattern: [Location] Hash House Harriers or [Location] H3

Examples:

  • Kuala Lumpur Hash House Harriers (the Mother Hash)
  • San Francisco Hash House Harriers (SFH3)
  • Tokyo Full Moon Hash

Independence

Each kennel is autonomous:

  • Sets its own run schedule (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly)
  • Develops local traditions and customs
  • Elects or appoints its own mismanagement
  • May have different rules about women, dogs, children

Interhash Events

  • Interhash: International gathering hosted by different countries
  • Nash Hash: National gathering (e.g., United States)
  • Red Dress Run: Annual charity event held by many kennels
  • Full Moon Hash: Night hashes held on full moons
